Df's lego engine thread

I built this engine in April 2023. It's a double acting single cylinder and it was my first working LEGO engine. It hadn't run for a few months and some parts had been taken off it to use on other engines. For its 1st birthday I decided to put it back together and make some improvements to the ports and piston for better performance.

Thank You for the info. I will look around for some bits and pieces.

Cheers

A while ago I said I probably wouldn't build another flat 4. Well, here I am with another flat 4! My original idea (a really long time ago) was to build an oscillating v8. That didn't happen, but I ended up building this very smooth running, single acting oscillating flat 4. The main framework of the engine doubles as a manifold, and the crankshaft also passes through it. Because half the engine is effectively turned upside down, one bank "exhausts" out the top and the other out the bottom, as you can see in the attached photos. Here's a video of it running: https://m.youtube.com/shorts/YA9s5NuIPjE

Nicely done  :) Keep it up you will come across some machine tools at a sensible price at sometime. I sold my 'spare' machines to a work colleague a couple of months ago. It would probably have cost more than their value to ship them to you.
