Hi Mike,

I should be able to put in a day maybe two with some model stationary internal combustion engines.

Andy

Hello Andy,

That's great news. I am sure others will step forward with the momentum.

Remember this special arrangement is for the benefit of all our MEM members, so 'bring what you built'.  i/c engines, steam engines, workshop tooling; completed or work in progress.

Cheers

Mike

Mike,
I would hope to be able to do one day. I could bring the Redwing which hopefully will be finished. My others are not ICE, if you are happy with these then I could possibly bring a Alyn Foundry Robinson Hot Air and a CHUK2 flamelicker and Stuart 10V.

The only possible issue that would prevent me being there is just last Friday having been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, I could be having treatment.  Currently have no timescales for this.

Regards,
Colin

Hello Colin,

Good to have you onboard. But sorry to hear about the 'Old man's problem' down below.

The plan is to make this the MEM table top display area and not limit it to the 'i/c engine group'. So 'bring what you built'.  i/c engines, steam engines, workshop tooling; completed or work in progress.

Cheers

Mike

Thank you Chris,

It would be wonderful if we could recreate the face to face exhibitor/ visitor environment we used to enjoy at the old Guildford, Bristol, Sundown and Ascot model engineering shows of ten years, or more, ago. They were great for the exhibitor and great for the model engineering enthusiasts visiting the show. Everyone enjoyed chatting, discussing and demonstrations of our creations; all came away with broad smiles on their faces.

I had thought of unearthing my camshaft grinder and putting it in as a loan or club stand exhibit. Putting it on a table and demonstrating it (not cutting) would be better.

Hello Charles,
A semi working demonstration of your camshaft grinder would be an excellent idea for the MEM display table, I am sure it would attract a lot of attention. I have asked for domestic mains power to be available on our table.
It's early days still, but what did you have in mind, one day, 2, 3 or four?

Keep these offers coming in.

Hello everyone,

I have been contacted by the Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition 2024 organisers, They have agreed to our MEM members attending on a day by day basis; arrive early, bring a model or three in to display and leave with them at the end of the day. The time has now come for us to firm up our plans and for me to organise our exhibition table(s).

A number of you (simplyloco, chipmaster, twizseven, Charles Lamont and possibly Jason) have all expressed an interest in attending and displaying a model or two, for one or two days. I now need you all to confirm your intentions to attend, list the models you will bring and what days you wish to attend. Of course, all our MEM members are welcome to attend and display their models, so don't be shy, now is the time to decide. Just let me know.

The organisers require us to provide MEM attendance for each day of the show and for us to man the stand for a large proportion of each day. I volunteer to do Thursday 17 October and Friday 18 Oct, so at the very least, we still need to cover Saturday 19 Oct and the last day Sunday 20 Oct. Looks like there may well be at least a couple of us on each day.

Please let me know as soon a possible, then I can do all the organisational paperwork that's required.

The situation is still much the same for me so I can't commit to a whole or specific day. If I do get to visit it will be decided on the day and only an hour or two at the show.

Hello Jason,

Sorry to hear your other responsibilities still prevent you from manning the MEM table/ stand. Maybe you can still find a little time to get to the show for an hour or two.

count me in with engine(s) running or static.

Hello Andy,

You are the first to confirm you wish to attend and display/run engines. Lets hope there will be more MEM members, who want to do the same, enough to make it possible.

I have not requested (or expect) an engine running cage for engines with propellers. However, I believe your engines are stationary internal combustion engines, so it should be OK to run them outside, with the other steam and traction engines. I will check with the organisers.

Can you give an indication of your preferred attendance day(s) and a list of the engines you propose to bring.

Hi Mike. I can bring my Bolton Triple on the Sunday together with the Scotch boiler, just for show!

My problem is while I could make it in the morning I fear there is a significant probability I would crash before I got home if I had to stay to the end of the show day as I would have a 100 mile drive to go home  :(  :old:

Hello Jo

Fully understand the situation. A long drive, a long show day, then a long return journey can take their toll
