We wish Royal Snail provided the same service in the UK  ::)

I just received a 48 hour delivery item.... after 10 days.  :ShakeHead:

I've  found that fedex is quickest from europe to us, usually  2 or 3 days.

Jo,  That’s a bit unfair on Royal Mail. They book you sent to me 2nd class reached me within 12 hours if you posting it.  :)

I did put nearly twice as much postal value on the front than it should have cost (as I didn't want to risk you getting the £5 charge from Royal Snail for insufficient postage. )

I think a lot is down to the local delivery office.

A while ago we were lucky to get one "post" delivery a week and that is inside the M25 not out in the sticks. However small Royal Mail packages still arrived on time. Speaking with the Postie it was due to low staff levels and he got paid more to run about in the van doing the tracked small jiffy bags etc than doing the letter post round, same guy did both types of delivery.

Motto is if you want a letter to get there on time put it in a package not an envelope. ;)

Also a long Easter weekend in that 10days plus the previous weekend. so maybe only 4 working days.

For shipments from Europe to USA, it can also matter where in the US that the shipment arrives - I've noticed that packages coming through NY City from Royal Mail to the US Post Officve can spend a week or two in Customs, where packages shipped via Fedex, DHL, etc go through their own customs clearance center elsewhere and get through the customs step in hours.

Several years ago I had a package coming across country from California to New York by UPS ground service. The tracking showed it working its way east state by state halfway across the country to Indiana, then it turned around and went southwest again, all the way back to New Mexico. I thought the package had hijacked the truck and was heading for the beach in Baja, but the other packages must have gotten control of the truck again and it spent the next week coming back again!    Have had other packages from Boston go back and forth between the same depots in Massachusetts and New Hampshire a few times before getting on the right truck...

living in North Carolina I once bought a book from a seller in South Carolina, tracking showed the book took a trip south and traveled to Miami FL. before heading north,, times showed it was an all over the road trip!!!
