Collet storage solution
« on: March 04, 2024, 05:18:54 PM »
As I near doing the ports etc on my rudy Kouhoupt Reversing engine, I am in need of ER20 collets on my KC20 mill. (BF20/G0704 style machine) It's been a month since I installed it and having had a bunch of experience I am confident that this solution will work for me.

1/16" thick Al, that has a reflective film on one side. For giggles I did some with that up and some with the film on bottom. They are all 7.5" wide by 3.5" deep. I rivetted the plates to thin Al angle using aircraft rivets that my dad collected off the floor at an aircraft factory in Malton, ON in 1954. Ditto with the Clecos. One of those 'you never know when you might need them' things that I keep in my stash.

Now I have quick access to metric and imperial ER20's, metric and imperial R8's and a selection of items on .5" shanks. There is space for a similar tray to hold .75" shank items, likely TTS holders or something similar but shop made.

Don't confuse activity with progress
