Thanks Kim.   Sorry if I threw you a distraction!  They are fun though, particularly when they run!

Just a quick update to say the clock has run for 7 days, with the only glitch being when I wound it. I didn't get it to the exact spot on the wall, and it stopped a couple of times. Once I found the right spot, it more or less took off by itself. I will have to be more careful during the winding.

With the old cuckoo clock at my grandparent's house, they had a small pencil mark on the wall to make sure the clock didn't move after winding.

Sounds like it's definitely running well!  How's the accuracy?  You should be able to get around a minute a week.

And when you move out of the house, the next owner is left wondering what that little mark is about :-)
All of my wall mounted clocks have that mark,

:slap: :slap: Why didn't I think of that! A mark on the wall ... Whoda Thunk It! I will do that right away and that problem should be gone.

Krypto, I am still dialing it in, but it is right in that ballpark of a minute a week. My wife made the comment this morning that it is the most accurate clock in the house, other than the computer / internet controlled ones.

Time for the next one!

My cuckoo clock has a mark on the wall next to the bottom corner - when I wind it I have to line up the case to the mark to get it level again, or it runs fast or slow that week. Easier than getting out a level every time.

Thanks for the input. The clock has been going for 24 hours since the last winding so I will put a mark by one of the feet.

I have to say I am impressed with how well this clock runs and I am looking forward to doing another one.
