A little boat work today

Did a bit of work on Rushforth this morning.   I'm installing a 9 HP diesel in her  ( mama is tired of sitting in the fire wood) and the engine cover got some love this morning.     Massa-anduba and Spanish Cedar.   It still needs sanding and sealing with epoxy and UV varnish, but it's coming along.     I priced a new propellor drive shaft for the boat with CV joints at either end  ( between the engine and the propellor shaft proper) and the marine units are like $3,000......   No  not happening.      That said, a Brand new RH drive shaft from a 2008 and later Mitsubishi Galant fits perfectly with a bit of machining.   I need to hard mill a keyway in the outputs shafts, but carbide is a wonderful thing....grand total ...$88.....with free shipping!

Goal to get her in the water MAYBE by the end of the year  ( Oct 31st)    We'll see....

Hello Dave,

That's some nice contrasting colour and textured woodwork. it's going to look even better after the epoxy and PU varnish.

Keep the seating and outfitting simple and minimal, if you want to hit the water this year. You can always add refinements later.

Go safe

Mike

Great!  Ingenious  solution for the  drive shaft too. So, which neighbors  car is missing a drive shaft, hmm?
