2023 Indiana model engine and hobby show
« on: May 26, 2023, 09:21:49 AM »
The Machinist Group of Northeast Indiana invites you to attend our 26th annual model engine and hobby show.  This year's show has a new venue,  the pavilion in the community park in Monroeville Indiana (421 Monroe St,Monroeville Indiana)

This is a free show, there is no cost to walk thru the door and be a spectator or be an exhibitor.

This year's show promises to be an eye opening event. You there will steam engines,  sterling engines , internal combustion engines, and hit & miss engines.  All engines are machined by our members, including designs from their own imaginations.

These engines range is physical size from tiny enough to fit in the palm of your hand, to large enough to take up most of your coffee table. All are perfectly finished , looking like a fine work of art.

26 year's ago, Heinz "Pete" Menger wanted to display his collection of engines.   Contacts were quickly made, and our fist show was a success. Now all these years later, we honor Pete's vision by naming this show after him & his legacy as a craftsman.

Please join us this October 14th and make this our largest show yet.

Confirmation of attendance by Debolt Machine  &  the model engine collectors association (MECA) . MECA will be having a display & swap meet.

This looks great, having never been to your show,  it looks like one I might like to exhibit at.  As it is a about a 6 hour drive I would be coming the day before.  What are the logistics for an exhibitor setting up?  for example:

What time for setup? Day before?
Are there tables provided?  chairs?
Is there electricity for a small air compressor?
Restroom facilities?
Food available?

I did a satellite view and saw a large rectangular building at an angle to Monroe street is that the Pavilion?   It looks large how big is it (my guess is 40 x 100+ if the google map legend is correct)?

Is there parking on the grounds or just on the streets?

Thanks for any information you can provide so I know what to bring for the day.

Bob

We can set up Friday afternoon/ evening.
Yes on tables and chairs  provided
Yes on electrical,  we will have our compressor running and plumbed thru the building
3 sets on indoor (same building)  restrooms
Food truck coming, other dinning options in Monroeville are slim.

You found the correct building,  I will be mapping out e ery last square footage Thu evening (as well as meeting with town council)  at least 100 x 40

Parking lot is just beyond the pavilion,  like a 2 minute walk.

I sent you a PM with my phone number

If you email me we can stay in the communication loop

Hi Aaron, I'm about an hour southwest in Blackford county. I moved from Indy last July and just getting my shop back together in a new building. I definitely plan to make the show with a couple of Stirling engines and a "steamer" or two.

Wow do we have a show coming together!

More info.

The show is just 9 minutes from New Haven (east side of Ft.Wayne)  . There you will find lodging and dining.  The Holiday Inn Express has just been remodeled (I believe)

The show is also 9 mins from Decatur,  not sure on lodging in that city, but lots of dining options.

There are the standard grocery stores/gas stations/ Walmart

We are not limited to just engines...bring out your machine shop projects & shop made tooling

Hello Aaron,

It's a bit too far for me to travel. Instead, I wish you good luck with your show

What is that historic jet plane just to the east of the pavilion?

Do you have more info on the show near Ft Wayne. I can't make it to the show on the 14th of October but maybe the other?

Could be F86 Sabre
According to this, an F84F Thunderstreak. There is a very similar one in a children's playground in Montpelier, Indiana nearer to me.

Thanks Tim,

It sure looks like a F84F Thunderstreak.  The F84 "Thud" was no way a pretty as the F86 Sabre

Seriously considering it!

Is it part of another show? ( tractor show, farmers market?)

Do not be like the cat who wanted a fish but was afraid to get his paws wet.
