Looks like a beautiful job on the cross slide!

I have a question about using this lathe in general.  With just a single round tube as a lathe bed, isn't it hard to keep the cross slide and tail stock in the correct orientation?  Don't you have to keep them carefully oriented to the headstock every time you move them?

Here are more pictures that also answer the question of the alignment of the bed sled and tailstock.
I have adapted the colour of the cross slide to the rest of the machine.

Now I would like to tell you something about the machine.
The machine was manufactured in 1963 for the German Army. It was supposedly made available for weapons maintenance in case of deployment.

This machine was also available for purchase by private individuals. The price was exorbitantly high for the time, which is why there were hardly any such models in the private sector and they are hard to find on the second-hand market.
The development of the machine began in the early 1950s. At that time, Bosch had developed a universal device for the DIY sector, which was powered by a hand motor that was also a drill. Through extensions and further developments, this lathe was then developed as the highest stage of expansion. Production was discontinued at the beginning of the 1980s.

Tony Griffiths has also published an article about this machine on his website.

Thank you for the additional photos. That does explain everything!

Very nice box too.  And it must feel great to have a complete set!  Very nice. Quite the collector's item.

Hello Kim,
it's much nicer and more satisfying to have two fully equipped boxes with the Bosch Combi lathe.

It's better to have something than to need something.
