Looking good Doc. Pretty small!

Seems like I remember you from a past forum?

Well got a little more shop time and played with my CNC  machine a little. I built a fixture to hold the cylinder heads and did some milling on them plus did get the timing covers done except for the crank seal bore. I'll bore that after they are assembled to the block to insure the seal will in the correct position. Hope to get out in the shop tomorrow and finish up the heads to the point of getting the valve cages made. I need to get some material ordered for the cylinder liners I'm thinking of going with some cast iron liners.

Well only a couple more days then shop time will be at a premium again (Christmas break will be over) :(
Got a little more done on the heads today I put off the 0-80 tapping until tomorrow. Then maybe set up and drill the exhaust and intake ports.

Last day in the shop for awhile I did get some things done though. Was a busy day.

Got a start on the rocker arms made up a holding fixture and mill out some blanks.

plus got the valve cages done and installed in the heads.

Ok I have a question I would like some feed back on.
I'm about to start making valves and am thinking of taking a chance and using material I have no clue as to the composition. (framing nail to be exact)
They seem to turn pretty nice. I would just hate to have them not workout in the end.I usually use a good tool steel like a-2  with no heat treat for my valves. But if this works out it will save some turning time and they are a cheap source of material.
I'd like to know whats your thoughts on this or should I just go get some material that I know will work out?
