the little bench is about ready for service,, the dowel vise handles will get replaced with some turned hardwood,, have to order up some longer 3/8ths brass bolts that will quickly turned and milled into the bench dogs..

Looks great!  Very similar to my full size one except not covered in carving chisels, chips, dust, dents...

I'm kind of in between in the looks department - yes it looks too shiny - but I would prefer that it never reaches the stage mine is in .... as I know my grandfather would never allow it to look as it does today - when he was alive  :-[   :embarassed:

But I would suggest an oil finish to protect the wood + and the rest will come with use  ;)

Enjoy using it, as the Tool it is  :praise2:

turned some 3/8ths brass bolts into some bench dogs, round off the heads, mill the flat, take the shaft down to 11/32nds, cut to length,, fast and cheaper than large brass rod!!!

gave the bench a quick coat of tung oil, found a drawer unit that will fit nicely and should work out well https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084QCXZ7C?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

the little router table top arrived and looks like it will work.. simple fence adjustments, the miter slot in T-slotted so the guide will not jump out, I can mill up a few T-slot nuts to fit for holding fingerboards... shouldn't take to much time to make the base unit to mount it on.. have a new dremel 4000 to provide the power..

got a quick start on the router base,, all made with more of the free maple,, found a plate in my scrape pile that will become the new mount plate for the base.. one hardware store stop to correct screws and bolts,, a insert will be added to strap in and stabilize the dremel motor..

made up the new mounting plate, milled the dremel holding section to give more travel (helps with the thickness of the top plate) pretty much together and ready to start cutting scale moldings and the like..

the under the bench drawer box arrived today,, matches nicely, has bottom edges front and back that drop over the bench's styles. Will most likely make a foam insert for the bottom drawer so tools will have their place to nest.. found my box of concrete nails,, so a set of 1/8"th, 3/16"ths and 1/4" chisels may be in the forging (standard and swan neck)
