Snow in La-La-Land
« on: February 28, 2023, 03:27:38 PM »
When you easterners show your winter snow pictures, I usually brag about our laid-back, southern California beach weather.  Well, for the last week those naughty Canadians have been sending some real great white North sh stuff down here so I thought it only fair to show what it looks like.

I've lived out here for 60 years and I've never seen snow fall or on the ground except up in the mountains (which I avoid visiting in winter).  The snow has been accompanied by a tremendous amount of rain and wind that caused a lot of damage and power outages (we had a 24 stint in the dark and cold). All in all it's been a huge confirmation of the wisdom of my decision to leave the east coast where this happens every year or so.

Wow Marv,

Just look at those mountain peaks. Like a picture post card

Perfect!

Marv, that is a bare dusting of snow, hardly worth mentioning. When you can't tell which is the car and which is the garage, let me know - that is real snow!

Yeah, Chris, I know it isn't much by Buffalo standards but it's OUR snow.  As we speak, they're probably building a refrigerated display in the natural science museum to house a sample for future generations to inspect.

I do know what real snow is like; that's why I live where I do.  When I was in college in Boston, I always cleared the snow from the license plate on the VW bug first before clearing the rest of the snow-covered lump; they all looked the same.  When I flew to Cal for my job interviews, it was snowing horizontally as I walked across the tarmac to the boarding stairs; on arrival it was sunny, palm trees, beaches.  I never looked back.

Nice snow pics!

I feel for you Marv!

I'd like them to keep the snow up north or back east.  Either is fine with me!

We've hardly gotten any snow here in Rochester NY this year, I guess it had to go somewhere!  Mother Nature must have put the wrong address/zip code on that box o snow!

Global Climate Change, and our northeastern US area is estimated to experience more temperature extremes as a result, which seems to be following that scenario.

Martial law would be an improvement over the crop of liberal poufters in Sacramento now.

Found another photo that shows the snow-clad mountains behind the labeled Hollywood Hills...

This thread seems to be getting a bit political so I am locking it.
