It Moves

This is a brief trial using my 12cc fuel injected twin to power an electric car I built for my children many years ago. It is usually powered by two 12V sealed lead acid batteries. For this trial I coupled a PM motor I had on to the engine and connected it in place of the batteries. The characteristics of the engine and generator are not well matched but it moved  :)

I knew from steady state measurements that the engine delivered enough power but I didn't now if it was enough to start more that 100kg of me and car moving or if the engine was flexible enough not to just stall. The revs dropped from around 8000 rpm to around 5-6000 (by ear) but it kept going  :)
