Hello from Germany
« on: February 22, 2023, 12:46:53 AM »
Hello, I am Jan from southern Germany, long time lurker and reader here.
Just found a topic where I can actually contribute something useful maybe, so I decided to get a bit more "active".

About me, I am an engineer, working in a small company on the other side of the border in France, mostly on older / historic engines nowadays. A lot of Mercedes, from Diesels to things like the M198 "gullwing" engine with its mechanical direct injection system, some English and Italian engines, quite a bit of Porsche...
Being a small company, I do everything from CAD work to cleaning the machines, most often 6 days a week, so I don't have a lot of time for this hobby sadly.

I am working on a 1:3 scale Bugatti Type 35 engine for quite a few years (and it will take a few more, see above). So far, there are no actual metal parts made yet, but about 80% of CAD and drawings done... And a lot of parts printed in plastic, to have something to look at (3D-printing can actually get a kind of hobby itself).
Lots of things to learn, for me!

Hi Jan,
Welcome to the forum!  Or welcome to posting to the forum at least! (since you've been here for a while it sounds like! :)).

Looking forward to seeing some posts on your project!  We love to see plans for projects too.  Especially when those plans eventually become a model!  ;D

Hi Jan, Welcome to the group.
Some days ago I have just taken a M110 engine out of an 41year old car.
Kind Regards

Thank you all for your welcomes!

Nice job capturing the form of the type 35 engine Jan !
Interesting vertical shaft cam drive in that engine.
