A Seal and a boat
« on: February 20, 2023, 04:59:52 AM »
Here are a few pictures of the model boat I built for my Seal 15cc engine. It is based on the boat my Dad raced in the early 1960’s. It was powered by an ex WW2 Jeep engine. The model is 970mm long

I love your boat. What a wonderful way to combine a family memory with using the model engine you have made  8)

this model cruiser is beautiful, congratulations!
is this boat designed to sail?
If so, the immaculate white paint might suffer a little with the oil...

Yes , I do intend to run the boat in the water. It has a six channel r/c in it but only using three channels. I think the paint will be ok if I’m careful. I have run the engine quite a few times all ready, like every time I walk past it I have to fire it up! Think maybe six times today! 😁

Amazing Boat and Engine - looks really stunning - and like Jo, I like your family connection to this project

The driver looks a bit like it was a hard days Nite though  ;D

Hello Mark

Great engine and a great boat. Your Dad would be proud

Two beautiful projects! I'm sure your Dad is very pleased - and grinning from ear to ear.  What a terrific memory holder and something that can be passed along.

Thanks all!

Unfortunately Dad didn’t get to see it finished 🥲.

It’s painted with rattle can! White painted first, left to dry for three weeks then the red , also left for three weeks, rubbed back with 2000 grit wet and dry and polished out , quite pleased with the result.

Admiral dk. It was the 60’s after all, and he is in a race…..    but yes my artistic skills are poor when it comes to trying to be life like .

Tghs. I don’t think I took any photos of the hull construction, never think to do it when I’m building something .
