Dave,   do you have progressives?  or bifocal?

Dave

Hi Dave
I have the progressive lenses and they are also transitions. Some people don't like the progressive lenses but I get along fine with them. These will focus form infinity up to about 8", any closer I use my Optivisor.
I have been nearsighted since 8th grade and like a lot of people became farsighted later in life.

Dave

Thanks Dave!   I'm all over it!

Dave and Dave, I just get standard safety glasses with wire shields and guess what they are a standard lens size.

I wore my safety glasses all the time working at sea on my hat. The hat is a custom hickory cloth cap similar to a railroad engineers cap but I sew mine with a very short brim. I am tall so always crashing into low pipes! I have an elastic band attached to holes drilled in the ear brackets. Now that I need glasses I only put them up on my hat every once and a while.

Cheers Dan
(there must be a better name for the part of glasses that rests in the ear lobe 'ear bracket' don't sound right)

No Chris, I bolt the glasses to the hat (I really did this once) and then twist or screw the hat on my head.

"Temple tips". Some call them legs, others arms, but the correct name for the two bits that go either side is the temples (because they go round your temples). The ends of which are the temple tips. Temple tips which have holes in them (for string or bolts  ::) ) are known as loop ends or ring-ends.

Side shields is the name we use for the wider bit of normally plastic that mounts onto the temples to stop bits sneaking round the sides of the lenses into the eyes.

Ordered Online with RX Safety. https://rx-safety.com/        good price!  Had the Glass lenses, UV protection, and ANSI rated obviously....

HALF the price of my Doctor's office.

We will see how they are, but if they're good, I'll buy another and leave them at work!

I can't get on with any of the overglasses and now just slip on one of those full-face visors that all the shop assistants use. They don't interfere with my spectacles, are dirt-cheap and offer better all-round protection from swarf, grinding dust etc than safety glasses.
Regards, Steve

Same here. I bought a Honeywell Bionic face shield primarily for wood turning and often wear it now when I’m using my milling machine. Fly cutters produce a great finish but flying chips used to be a problem.

They are excellent. I have bought several pairs from them.

Forging ahead regardless.
