More careful and accurate machining done on carb. The brass barrel turned then cross drilled and bored. Slot milled for throttle idle screw in barrel. Imitation flout bowl made. Top cover, also needle valve adjustment screw with sticks out the bottom.
Parts still to be made to finish off carb, needle valve and pipework for fuel inlet, plus small 'throttle' lever .
Photo below shows my carb next to full size Amal.

I have ordered some pumice to try and dull it down. I did think of buying a sand blasting cabinet but I am not sure my compressor is up to it. I will see how the crankcases come out when I machine them and decide then. An old company I worked for have a vapour blaster which leaves a lovely finish. So I might be knocking on their door!

John,
Your Amal carb looks great! Haven't said much but your work is yery good, and I'm sure the final product will look like the original.

I like that a lot. I've had an idea to maybe make a carb for my project that looks somewhat like a Weber on the outside while still being a simple model engine carb on the inside. Your work gives me new inspiration!

Ron

Good to hear Ron. This is the main reason I am posting this build. I have been inspired by fellow machinists who create wonderful pieces.

Pretty much finished the carb and fitted it to manifold. Drilled and tapped holes in cylinder head to attach assembly.
Going to have a break from the top end, so will be machining the timing cover the back plate next.

My eye is immediately drawn to the domed knurled and cross slotted covers and the way they work with the curvature and lustre of the cam boxes. That carb is wonderful....beautiful work.

Many thanks for your moments. Good to have a few followers on this build. More alloy on order. In the mean time some CAM programming to be done.

Me too. Having owned a T20SH, a 3TA, 5TA and a (new) TR6 Trophy, I'm finding the nostalgia quite overwhelming!

Next parts that I have made are the Timing cover and the timing cover back plate which screws onto the right hand crankcase. My phone ran out of battery, so only roughing tool path shown before polished photo.
