I am not sure, maybe  do some more on the top end. I am working up to doing the crankcases which will be machined out of 2 pieces
of 2" thick alloy. The timing inner case and primary inner case will be added as different items . Lots of CAM programming to be done and chips to be cut. --and plenty to go wrong !!

As we both have Tormachs   I'd like to pick your brain on programing the cooling fins....I have a lot of them in my future!..

The 770 had just about enough power to do the job, though it did get bogged down once. I used the low RPM belt, new cutters. In my case I did 10 mm passes. I had one hand on the speed rate knob and the other on the feed rate. When it started to bog down I turned the speed up and the feed rate down. Disaster was never far away!

Yes   similar on the 440   Cutting 32 DP gears in low range and 1" per minute full depth....I guess I'll start with my gear cutting set up.   The saw I have is carbide, so I can run it faster, and I may .
try it and see.  Just dont want to take out a drive.

Most excellent work!
You’ve inspired me to dig out my old dog-eared copy of Jupiter’s Travels by Ted Simon.

I think I have a copy somewhere in the same condition!
I have now made valve inserts in stainless which have been shrink into the head. Afterwards the combustion chambers were re-machined so that the inserts become flush. Bottom fin face milled. Decided to fly cut the gasket face closer to completion as it is bound to get damaged in the coming months/years.
Rocker covers have been hand finished and polished and caps made. Waiting for cutter to cut cross slots in them. Also materials to continue with this project.

Slow progress on the Triumph.
I have machined and fitted cast iron liners into barrels. Turned bronze tappet guide blocks which fit into the base of the barrels.
I have made alloy bronze valve guides which need to be fitted to cylinder head.
Finally I received cutter to finish rocker cover caps.
Next job will be the manifold which will be the most involved 3d machining I have done to date. More cutters ordered!
Fingers crossed it goes OK.
