Stuart Score mostly scratch built
« on: November 13, 2022, 08:26:08 PM »
Just finished the latest of the group of small stuart engines and this time i just bought the casting that i couldn't build myself and added a few changes of my own. I have finally worked out how to bore the sole plate accurately by mounting it on a fixture and boring on the Mill where i can remove it to check the centering and then make small adjustments if necessary. The final challenge was fitting the inlet pipes
and elbows. I like twin cylinder engines as they start easily and run slow .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOi3fR_XbRg

Very beautiful! The coloring also goes well with the wood paneling of the cylinders.
Is the black base also made of cast iron?
The machine base is original Stuart.

I like this finely made and well presented engine very much. The running at a slow speed is very nice, an appealing model . Dave

Thanks for encouraging comments guys, in answer to Michaels question the Base is a aluminium casting which i bought on Ebay because it was a bit different and lighter, they are still for sale and they have other items. search for "base casting" by cringlemodelengineering. I also include a picture of my setup for boring the soleplate.
