Stuart Models accepted the return without question.
I get my Cowells tomorrow so I'll have to look for something else!

A good response from Stuart Models but a big disappointment overall. I am sure you would have been dreaming about building the triple for a long time.

Hope the Cowells does not disappoint

Hi Mike.
Two people have suggested the Reeves Bolton Triple, so I'm having a look already!
I want the Cowells for close up work, and I still have the EMCO V10P ...

Hello John,

Well, Reeves have a solid reputation and the Bolton Triple looks just great. Will you go for it?

Yes indeed. For very little more money I get gunmetal castings throughout, and a write up which includes modified drawings and excellent construction notes!

Just take a look at this wonderful example: it will stretch what little time and talent I have left, but it will be worth it.

I'll have to start a new thread... :LittleAngel:

Hope the Bolton works out for you, complaints about Reeves castings are also quite common as well as about their Customer support. Though the images they post on their facebook page seem to show good castings but suppose they would not post poor ones or older stock.

PS. Couple of major castings are not GM

Thanks Jason. I've just been through the complete Reeves list and apart from the alloy base and the flywheel everything is gunmetal, apparently...
Do you know something they don't? Do tell!

No they were the couple I was thinking about as it is not Gunmetal Trough out as you said.

By way of comparisson I think this was the last Reeves casting I machined, again a CI flywheel, not as good as the Stuart one shown earlier. Don't have an as received pic but this is after flash removal and a bit of surface clean up of spokes & hub

So all is well that ends with a full refund  8)

At least they still do customer service even if the quality is not what it used to be   :noidea:
