WARCO WM280V Fixed Steady
« on: October 07, 2022, 11:20:05 AM »
Hi Troops,

Question for anyone who has the above machine accessory ........

Do I really have to poke the clamping plate for this thing up through the hole(s) in the lathe bed ?   :cussing:

What a flamin' performance compared with the set-up on my Myford S7.

Or have I got it all wrong ??    ( It has been known    :headscratch:  )

No

Just loosen the nut right off then with the steady above one of the cut outs in the bed tilt it rearwards so the back of the plate goes under the rear way and with a bit of a wiggle the front of the plate will clear the front way and drip down as you bring the steady back to the upright position.

On a Colchester, you loosen the nut a turn, the lower clamping plate nicely rotates through 90 degrees and you lift it all up, up and away  :)

Hi Jason ...

Cheers

I did eventually work out that I didn't need to put my paws under the bed.   ::)

Obviously been spoilt by the simplicity of the Myford arrangement which sounds a bit like the Colchester as posted by Jo ....  :D

Anyway, nosh time ....   ;D

I wouldn't use it too often or you'll end up with a high squeaky voice  :mischief:
