Casting a small conrod from a resin 3D printed pattern.
(1/1)
A7er:
The photos show my latest attempt at casting after many months away from the workshop. My sand had changed and was fairly unfriendly. I added more Bentonite to make it happy again. This was my first casting with my happy sand, I think we can do better. I will let the sand dry out a bit more before my next attempt.
A 20p coin is used for scale. I hope to improve the surface texture and reduce the flashing.
Mcgyver:
That looks really good, nice work.
A7er:
Thanks, but I am fairly sure I can do better. I will keep trying anyway. I am now concentrating on my next casting of a conrod. This time using a zinc/aluminium alloy, zl12, and a matchplate. Fingers crossed.
bent:
Those look really clean, and quite a nice surface finish.
A7er:
Thanks Ben. I hadn't got my sand sorted at the time of the pour. Working to get a better finish.
