Portland Oregon Hello
« on: August 19, 2022, 06:16:23 AM »
My name is Steve and I live in Portland, Oregon USA.   I have been a machinist all my life and getting ready to retire.  I am enjoying letting my mind to wander into things that have always interested me.  I believe a project along these lines would be a great recreational activity.  I joined to better have a look at what you guys are doing.   Thank you.

Welcome to MEM Steve!
Did you ever make it to any of the GEARS shows in Portland? They were a lot of fun while it lasted.

Just curious for the Portland area guys, there used to be 3 clubs in the Willamette Valley. Emerald Valley Model Engineers, Mid Valley Model Engineers, and Portland Model engineers. I'm not sure if I have the names correct but close.
I was wondering if any of these clubs still exist and are active?

PME (Portland Model Engineers) still exists.  I'm a member of that, though I haven't attended very often since Covid. Actually, we were meeting via Zoom for a year+ and I attended more regularly then.  But not so much lately...

I don't know about the other two.

We had a meeting of the Mid Valley ME group this afternoon.  We even have a bit of a website, https://midvalleymodelengineers.club/ .  Meetings are the third Saturday of the month if the stars align.

Thanks guys,
It is good to hear the at least two of the clubs are alive and well.
