I think the head would cool better if it had some fins cut into it. I checked your older posts to see what head gasket material you use and it turns out to be gasket paper. if it works, it works.

Today I machined the valve cages and tappet guides from what I believe was bronze (that big bunch of material I bought a few months ago has both brass and bronze stock in it, and I can't tell the difference by sight).--It machined like bronze. I also machined the tappets from 01 steel, and they will be flame hardened before being put into actual service.

Gipetto---If you go back and look at post #13, you will see that I now use a Viton o-ring as a head gasket. The waterpump gasket material that I used on my cylinder heads before didn't stand up very well when the head had to be removed and replaced  half a dozen times during the initial stages of getting the engines to run. The viton o-ring material stands up very well so I have switched to using it.---Brian
