The old machines are great    :wine1:

Although I know some of the old eastern European tractors I had not come across Famulus. I found a useful website (in German) and was interested to see how much the air cooled versions outsold the water cooled ones.
Best regards

Hello Roger,

but the water-cooled engine was the more powerful.
But by 1960 it was already totally outdated. It is the so-called "Reichs unit motor" by Horch from the 1940s.

Hello, everyone,
Now it happened, I have completely cleared out my workshop. Everything will be redesigned. The old mortar needs to be removed from the wall and then made new again. The electrics from 1960 will also be rebuilt. I think there will be another 6 centimeters of concrete on the floor so that the lathe is nice and straight.
I hope to get it done by fall. So a lot of work.

Wow! That is quite a project, Michael!  But the end results will be worth it.

Are you going to put in more lighting while you're at it? I always need more lights!

That is indeed a big project - but that's the only way to get it set up exactly how you want it. I will enjoy following along for sure. Good luck!

Forging ahead regardless.

Hi Roger, Kim and Stuart,
Now I have it in my hands to do everything right.
More light comes into the workshop. Before I had these neon tubes, now LED light is coming. I've bought a few lamps there. Yesterday there were electric socket strips in the supermarket for little money. I'm sure I can assemble it on the workbench.
I think I need to replace the fuse box. Is no longer state of the art 🤔.

Big Project with at LOT of Work to do and I do agree that you really should upgrade the Fuse-Box.

For a start - a HPFI Relay for your Safety  :old:  and Modern Fuse-Breakers (where the Fuse itself is last to go) so you Just can goo over and press the Reset Button and have Power again  :)

wow, a huge amount of work to do, but this beautiful collection of tooling deserves it !
I agree that the fuse box is no longer up to standard, but has to be left as a decoration with the old machine tools  !

From a purely legal point of view, I could leave it as it is. Ceramic fuses can still be bought. But Per is right with his advice to use circuit breakers and fault current switches. But the frequency converters on the lathe and drill must not have a fault current switch. The sockets do.

Hello,
I'm making big strides with the renovation of the workshop ("Werkstatt" in German). Since I'm on vacation and my father is generously supporting me, the walls are finished. The electrics are completely new, there are already two new lamps and the frequency converter for the lathe is in place. I also came up with the idea of laying a compressed air line. in copper pipe. The compressor is in the next room. Now I'm thinking about shelves on the walls and workbench.
But for today after work deserves a beer, at almost 30 degrees Celsius.

Wow - that is a lot of work done already  :praise2:

I just love your "Werkstattschild"   and you really can't wish for a much better place to relax afterwards - than just sit on the bench and enjoy the river flowing by

Thanks David and Per,
I really enjoy this work. But now there's a week's break because the concrete on the floor has to dry out for painting.
So there is a trip to the Baltic Sea for recreation ( Per, already a little closer in your area.)
