Hello All, Gary, from Regional Victoria Aus
« on: February 10, 2022, 11:15:40 AM »
Hi everyone, found this forum, while searching for build logs for the Kozo’s Pennsy A3 Switcher!, Of course found a few here, and very impressed, Kim's build is outstanding. I have not done much in the way of model engineering, and only really turned on a lathe and mill after a 25 year break. I decided to set up my workshop, with a lathe and mill, and still have all my old tooling from my apprenticeship days. It is a work in progress, and what Aussies know as TTR (transition to retirement). I Look forward to being an active contributor to this forum,
PS, I have just finished PM Research #1 model engine  I still need to finish it proper, but I am happy with my first attempt. :)

Thanks Gary

 :hi: Gary,

That's a nice little PMR engine. Its always good for the soul to make a 'quick' model engine before starting a long term project, it can sometimes be useful to do a few more quickies along the way to keep up the enthusiasm  ;)

Best regards

Hi Gary!
And welcome!  Thanks for posting an intro! :)

As Jo said, it's nice to do some smaller builds too.  And I've interspersed a few along with my longer term builds.  I'm currently taking a short break while learning a new skill - MIG welding.  Having fun with that too.  But I'll be back to the Pennsy shortly!

Welcome again!  I think you'll quite enjoy the group here!

Hi Gary
Building a live steam locomotive is a huge undertaking.  I built one many years ago… took three and one half years to finish it.  I admire your determination, not sure I’d want a project of that scope again.  Welcome to the forum, you’ll meet some really great, friendly folks here, always ready to help and not criticize.

Thanks everyone for the very warm welcome , I will be taking my time before I undertake a live loco.
I still have got a bit of tooling to procure and make and finish of my workshop,  speaking of, I have just received my Hemingway Sensitive Knurling tool kit that I intend to machine, is that build something worth sharing with the forum?
Thanks Gary.

Yes please, a number of the members wanted better knurling tools last year and I took apart my Marlco for them, the Hemingway one is a Marlco copy. I wonder if any of the members actually made one
