Mike's Completed Upshur Horizontal Farm Engine

All, the following are the final pix for my Upshur Farm Engine build.

The only work I did after the build log was to mount the engine on a wooden base and attach a name plate to the base.  The wood is walnut and is from trees that grew on the farm where I grew up.  My late father felled them and had them sawed in rough lumber.  My brother carefully store the rough lumber and made this base from a small piece.  He's a very skilled woodworker so I get him to do whatever woodwork that I need and I trade him out with any machining that he needs.

The brass plaque was made at a local trophy/engraving shop that does good, fast, work.

I didn't attempt to finish this engine to a fine showroom type condition.  The machining is good, at least in my opinion, as my goal was to build an I/C engine with several features that I hadn't attempted before.  What was new to me on this build was the entire hit-n-miss mechanism and building a carburetor from scratch.  The carb was from plans originally done by Chuck Fellows and then replicated by Brian Rupnow and others. 

I also don't attach a permanent fuel tank to the engine as this will go into the house and I don't want even a trace of fuel inside my house.  I also only leave the spark plug and hall effect sensor attached to the engine as I move the S/S module from engine to engine as needed.

The finish on the engine isn't nearly as fine as some of the one's I see here, but it runs and the flywheels run true!  The wooden base though is very nice, so thanks for noticing that.

I did modify the post as I had duplicated the links to the videos. Now you can see the both sides of the engine when it's running.

Very nice engine Mike! I just fired up the one I built yesterday for the first time in months. I really like the Upshur engines.
