My Geo Thomas Bending rolls

I finished these up today, a "quickie" version, simplified some, and I used off the shelf parts, actually I only bought the materials for the rolls and gears(pinion stock), everything else I had. I save every knob, handle, crank whatever from the scrap bin.

It won't win any awards but I suspect it works the same!

It works well, now back to making models.

Looks great! Do you happen to know if that geared roller principle is confined to sheet/flat stock? By that I mean when I see those wire/tubing rollers, usually in the jewelry making domain - the roll wheels are much shorter obviously but they come in sets of increasing groove sizes. I wonder if the general 'rolling & tension setting' principle the same? Thanks for any guidance.

The principle is the same. In fact George Thomas shows grooves to roll both angle and T section. I didn't add those but I will when the time comes I need to roll some angle or T. 1/2 round grooves could be added as well.

I have slightly modified my bending machine according to the plans in the book by G.H. Thomas. I did not use the corresponding module gearwheels of size 1.25 but module 1.5. This gives me a stronger tooth overlap and the gearwheels do not break out so quickly.
