 :hi: DaFarmer,

You need to let us have more information on the "Stuart Turner Model Set" for us to be able to provide you with any suggestions. A photo would help.

Hi ... usually it is better to sell valuable antiques as you find them as people that want these items like them to be original and unrestored !! so in a hundred years time this may qualify ??!!!

Might just be a set of castings?
As indicated above we need to see a photo.

You will have to go to the Home Model Engine Machinists site to see the photos of this Stuart engine collection.

Maybe Mr DaFarmer is confusing MEM with HMEM

Having looked on HMEM and taking into account you are looking to cash in so:

You will make more money working at the local supermarket than spending the number of hours on those models that will be required to substantially increase their value. So sell as is. There is nothing rare or valuable in the pictures. Put them up individually on Fleabay to maximise your return.

And what ever you do do not go anywhere near any of them with that flapwheel on your electric drill  :paranoia:

Jo,

It seems like that guy on HMEM got lucky. Someone in the USA has just offered $1000 US

 :facepalm2:

I've seen a few Stuart Turner casting sets on the bay of fleas this side of the pond lately, going for silly money. And the ridiculous thing is they are all still available brand new from Stuart Models.

I purchased a beam engine like that at the local flea market a couple years back, I think I gave just north of $100 USD for it. Workmanship is just average, but it does look much better than the one in the photo on HMEM.

A lot of the Apprentice schools used to make the Stuart Beam engine as one of their subjects for learning. One of the members on here mentioned some years ago about coming across a skip full of them  :o

Mine is an orphaned ex-apprentice one that I corrected the features  ::) and got it running, then tried giving it to my Nephew who refused it  as he has no interest in anything mechanical :headscratch:

Rest assured.  On the other site he confirms its a wire wheel hes going at it with. :)

And the price goes up with each bit of rust he has removed :Jester:
