what's wrong with this picture?
« on: November 13, 2021, 10:36:20 PM »
Hi all,
I've been sitting on this photo with the intention of posting it, so today's the day.
This is the lathe bench for the lathe at work.
I do have a question about that. It has the cam lock to attach the 3 & 4 jaw chuck. One of them is not quite aligned and I have to turn just past the click to remove the chuck. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

I saw a picture of a canoe built by the same guy that assembled that door. The bow pointed up as usual. The stern pointed down.

"I've cut that stock three times, and it's still too short!"

Don't get a lot of leverage opening the door using that handle. And I'll bet it doesn't latch very well from that side!

Saves you knocking your knee on the handle when standing at the lathe ;)

Decided to reverse the door on the refrigerator. (Most appliances are designed to allow this.)

Removed hardware, door and etc.

Inside panels also need to swap L for R to allow access to captive nuts for hinges on one side and latch on the other.

As long as it comes apart, might as well clean it really well.

When clean, assembly reverse of disassembly: Carefully fit inner panels, door (in new orientation) and all trim and cosmetic covers.

Door won't latch: Forgot to reverse inner panels.

GRRRRRRR..... :censored:

At least it's faster the second time you do it.

No, the motor hasn't been stolen or misplaced it's on the back side of the lathe. The whole lathe as a unit sits on top of the lathe bench. You can just see the belt cover in the upper left of the photo.

Oh I see what's wrong. You have the gears set to thread cutting when you just want to turn a diameter.

My cat glares at me like the eyes in that picture. I often wonder what demise she is plotting for me.

Yeah Stuart I hate to disappoint you but that's not it. The roll pin that drives the power feed gave up the ghost, taking the plastic drive gear with it. Don't know that thread cutting works as I've never needed that function on this machine. There are times the power feed would be handy but can be worked around.
