How are you melting the brass?  Don't recall, did you ever show your casting setup?

Stacked fire bricks to form a box, small crucible, mapp gas torch,, I do have a small furnace if I need to melt larger amounts but will need to get a propane tank,,.. I'm calling this a good trial run!!! wasn't expecting much!!! I can calculate the needed brass by weight next time..

decided a core mold that could handle a little abuse was in order,, waxed well, pack filled with extra, clamped together and more sand mix beat in through the 3 openings.. did a little work on the master, filled and thickened the foot, (as long as it cast fully I can thin that section back on the mill.. maybe a pour on Monday.. :cheers:

This is an interesting process, is there a reason that you didn't use a sodium silicate bonded core?
