I think F360 will also give you the resultant cusp height or if you enter the height and tool it will work out the stepover to give the height. This would make it easier to work out the clearance dia you would end up with as the crests are above the average used for Ra.

Though as it is a parallel path along X the cusp height will only be that at the bottom of the U. Once you start coming up the sides the Z steps will make the cuts further apart. Probably not an issue as you are just roughing out. Having the parallel in Y like I showed would give a constant stepover and Ra
