Hi Everyone,

I have been interested in model engineering since secondary school but back in 60's access to machinery was only limited to half a day a week at school, since then have been busy working with not much time to really get into model engineering, I do have a small warco lathe / mill and a small sherline mill which I converted to CNC. Anyway now I am due to retire in the next couple of weeks and at the moment clearing all the junk out of the sheds to make room for a new lathe and mill looking at industrial machines as I had a 3 phase supply put into the house about 20 years ago, looking forward to making some engines for various projects, and have seen some good quality builds on this forum.

:hi: Dave, What sort of model engines are you interested in?

Retirement: Welcome to the best part of our lives   :DrinkPint:

And kitting out your workshop  :whoohoo: Which lathes/mills are you looking at? Good condition ex model shop machine tools are always worth having.

Hi fellow members,
Thanks for the warm welcome.
Depending on the size of the cash lump sum from my pension will determine what machines to buy, but provisional looking at an optimum Th4010d lathe or one of a similar size and an atlas bed mill either one to convert to a 4 axis cnc or they already do a cnc version. At the moment got some books on model internal combustion engines but also have plans for a 3 1/2" scale traction engine but also been looking at trains but instead of using batteries and a sound generator the idea would be to make an engine similar to what's in the train. The task in hand at the moment is to clear the shed out to make room for the machines which seems an impossible task at the moment, already took 3 loads of junk to the skips and still can't see the difference.

The ultimate engine to make would be a working Napier Deltic.
