Marion shovel in Kansas
« on: October 05, 2023, 04:27:13 PM »
Hi all,
Recently on ebay I came across a repair manual (with drawings of all the parts, not measured but all the parts) of a Marion Model 37 steam shovel. Turns out that there is one of these shovels still existing, and restored, in Crawford County Kansas, USA.

https://www.crawfordcountymuseum.com/marion-steamshovel
I was wondering if there are any forum members who either live near there or may have been there and taken pictures/videos of the machine? If so I would be most interested in pictures of it, especially the inside of the cab and the underside around the tracks.

Anyone with pics?
Many thanks,Chris

Hi again,

I heard back from the museum, had emailed  them earlier  in the week. The director  is amazing,  he went and took a bunch of pictures for me!  Going to send them a donation  for sure.

More in future when I get to  doing some CAD drawings...

I have a feeling I have seen a Model of a Marion done before though it may have been a Bucyrus as they look fairly similar.

I know the problem of the growing Project list, for some reason mine grows faster than I can build the models :headscratch:

Edit, I found the Bucyrus which may be of interest tough still think there is a model Marion out there too. Couple of parts are missing the text but rest seem OK, just got to buy that lazer sintering printer now.

That bucyrus model is amazing. I  did a Marion 91 model here on the forum several years ago, if thats the one you are thinking of?   Theres another one on this forum too.
