Thanks Mike,

BTW, have you tried rubbing a stick of blackboard chalk over the file before you start to file aluminium. It helps prevent the dreaded pinning.

Yes, it does work. I just have to remember to do it  :old:

I have no idea which set of Castings I will be allowed next. I have to finish painting this one first. I finished putting it together and then realised that it would look better if the centre of the cover was also painted so that is now primed and hopefully tomorrow it can be top coated.

In the mean time I have another engine to paint

Looks good in the light colour and I not that keen on the usual dark colours unless there is a good reason to use them.

Worse than having masking tape go off (not a problem I get) is leaving it on a surface for a long time and then trying to remove the adhesive :censored:

Piece of copper pipe flattened at the end and then rubbed across the file at the angle of the teeth is a good way to clean them.

You've said it's not a pretty engine, but with that bit of make-up it certainly is quite attractive! Thank you for the excellent write-ups, photos, and tips all along the way.

Ron

Phew all tarred and feathered:

This one can now go and join its big sister the C-612.

Negotiations are underway for the next set of Castings  :)

It had been noted that I had to go and collect for someone four, yes you read that right FOUR sets of castings. I was told that this was because he was four at the beginning of July so he was allowed 4 more sets of castings  :noidea: That did not stop him from trying to make friends with the parcel that came yesterday with MY birthday present in it

I wonder what I might be allowed to make next :

That is the prettiest looking 'tar' I've ever seen!  Hmmm, it even matches a certain elephant....

Thanks Guys  :) ,

The colour does seem to improve it (  a bit). At least now if someone searches the internet for this Coles engine there are a few photos of one available.

We do have one more Lancer Engineering set of castings kicking around   :mischief:

Thank you Mike and Per,

Still not sure what will be next. I am hoping for something a bit more "interesting"  ;)

Jo,
That looks good Jo, enjoyed the descriptions of all operations.  Nice to see you have managed to get almost all the bolt heads in alignment with one another.

Hope Surus lets you have a full set of castings for your next build.
