yep its works but I just use an old thong (flipflop, jandal for the oz illiterate) for the same result.
I used to have a friend.....but the rope broke and he ran away :(....Good news everybody I have another friend...I used chain this time :)

Good tip and a $ dollar saver.

Really like this stuff when you sand dried varnish or paint off wood using your belt sander, do you know how that gums up the grit and it gets that glazed gummed up deposit? The rubber will strip that straight off.

A number of years ago when visiting a friend with a small woodworking shop i noticed that he cleaned his belt sander using old tightly twisted plastic bags, twisted into a sort of stick.

Even if it worked well, I wouldn't want all that dust and particles in my workshop from plastic bags.
