Weir Steam Pump Complete

(1/3) > >>

crueby:
Completed the build of my Weir steam powered boiler feedpump, using the plans from Kennions in the UK. I doubled the size of all the parts from the plans. The main body parts are all brass, the rods are 303 stainless steel and the valve sliders are bronze. Nice deisgn for a pump, it has two simple valve chests rather than the single one with a maze of passages tangled together like on most designs.

Here are a couple videos of it running - it is sitting in a tray of water about 1/2" deep. It actually primed itself after a few strokes the first run, so the check valves must be sealing well. Here goes:

Kim:
That's excellent, Chris!  You made short work of this project, that's for sure!   And it runs great and pumps water and everything.  What more could you want?

Well done!
