I got a suspicion - Vince has had a long break from here and when he came back he discovered that his pictures where gone (I do not remember why - might be a hosting issue) and he corrected some of them, so they came back - but not the majority, if I remember correctly ....

You could send him a PM and ask nicely i f he can help.

Best wishes

I can see some of the photos on the Worden MK 3 thread, others (from Photobucket) says "Sorry. This image is currently Unavailable", so may be the account is terminated or the photos moved after Photobucket dropped its free hosting service.

Hi Beagles

I just checked and as you said the photos are not showing.  The photos are hosted on another members server (Arnold) and I just checked and they are all there.  I also tried some of the links to the photos from my posts and they worked.

As such I do not know why they are not showing in my posts although I suspect that a recent forum software update may be the reason.

All showing up for me except some Photobucket ones posted by another member.

Probably the HTTPS issue

My previous comment was from my lunch break at work, where I couldn't see the pictures ..... but here at home I can ....

Another strange thing relates to Jason's comment - my browser tells me that it's an unsecure connection I open when I see them - but looking at the address, it starts with https:// - ie. secure  :headscratch:

The only two differences I see, between work and home, are different nets and Win 10 at work, but Win 7 at home.

For those where it makes a difference - try removing the s - so you have http:// at the beginning af the address and see if it helps.

Thanks Jason and Per.  That is the first thing I tried.  Tried removing the "s" from https but it did not let me do it.

At least I am satisfied that the photos have not been lost.  They are just not displaying here.

I have had a similar problem over on one of the RC boating sites - all the browsers and web sites have been making changes around secure pages and linked content, and if the page is secure but the linked photo is not, or vice versa, it wont show in a lot of cases. Someday things may hopefully settle out. Best I have found is to try changing the security/paranoia level in the browser, and if that does not work try a different browser.  :zap:

I have just had a sneaking suspicion.  Went to check.

Seems all the photos in my Corliss and Monitor builds are also not displaying.  :(

Try what I posted when video was not showing up in this post. If that does not work carry on reading and let AdeV know if you still have  aproblem

I just took a look now - the problem is the photos are on an http link, and there's no https equivalent. The software is currently configured to convert any http:// links to https://, which is why they're not showing up.

Unfortunately, I don't have any quick solution for that problem: If I twiddle the forum code to leave them as http:// links, a load of other photo services break (e.g. imgur).

Vince - are you able to set your server up to allow https? If so, the photos will automagically appear again. If not, I'll investigate adding a patch to let your photo links through unaltered, which should fix it.
Cheers,
Ade

Jason
I had a look at that link and although I haven't tried it might work.  The thing is that it might work for me but not to other people who might visit the build logs (unless they also make the changes on their browsers).

Adev
Thanks for the reply.  Unfortunately, the server is not mine but Arnold's (one of this site's admins).  He had kindly offered to host my photos on his server.  Don't worry about it as I have all the photos locally.  As the build logs are basically useless now I might in the future ask the admins to delete them.

Before you have your threads deleted Vince - please try to ask Arnold nicely if he will change the http to https - as it would be a shame to lose all that work from you

Actually - please leave it, as it might be solved later.

ADEV, it's more likely to be at the users end as I and at least one other person can view the images, if it were due to the way they are hosted then would that not apply to everyone?

Vince, why not add a post to the end of the thread linking to Modelengineeringwebsite articles.

Thanks Jason.  I like that idea.  Infact I would add a post at the beginning and also at the end of the build log.  Went on the Modelengineeringwebsite to find the links to the build logs but could not find them.  When I have some spare time I will make a better effort to find those links.  At the moment busy 3D modelling a Tiger 1 breech and mantlet and a Faun L900 fender.

That's great.  How did you manage to find it?  Is there a search facility?
Now I need to find the Corliss and Monitor builds on that website.
