What type is steel are you using?

1117 for the body and 1144sp on everything else.  All other parts are bearing bronze.  It will have hard jaws (A2 tool steel), and a hardened anvil on the back (also A2).   Jaw width is 50mm.

The vises are looking great!

They're getting there.....most of the heavy work  is done.  I still need to make the base swivels....but it's progressing pretty quickly.

I still need to make the anvils and jaws....one smooth hard jaw set and a copper jaw set...x2 of course

This has been a very fun project, and I'm rounding a corner on it ....won't be long now.....before the dreaded engraving of the name.....

Very nicely done!   Have you decided if the outside will be painted?

I briefly toyed with the idea of engine turning the outside of the vise.....but I think i finally talked myself out of it...thankfully

Painted ....black, with white letters I think......opinions will vary....

When you said "Engraving the name" I wondered if you meant 'Baby Wilton' or the name of the builder
