Dear Community

I am not a model engine maker myself but made a short documentary about a villager, who started making such models 4 years ago with an age of 90!

He is now 94 years old and would surely love to get some feedback from fellow machinists.

Not a valid vimeo URLThe video is in Swiss German but there are English and German subtitles available.

I will forward any responses and feedback to him.

Thank you so much for watching!

Warm regards from Switzerland

Mark

(I hope it is the right board for such a topic)

Thank you for posting this video.  Those are interesting engine designs and very nicely made.  This man's shop is very nice and
looks like he has had it for many years.  What kind of projects or work did he do before starting on model engines?

Chuck

Hi Chuck, thanks a lot, I will tell him your kind words :)

To your question:
As far as I understood, he was a lamp manufacturer until retirement when he sold his lamp shop.
He bought the machines for his basement/ workshop after "retirement" in the nineties.
He continued to produce small batches/ orders of parts like door knobs, handles etc.
So when less orders were coming in, he kind of got bored and started building stuff.
He gave me a nail file he made and showed me some working cannon models, which I think was the last thing he made before he started with the engines.
