John Hill:
Just so you can see this is an original made by Ronald Sher in Australia,  hence very rare and much sought after............. ^-^

There could not have been too many of these made as I have been unable to find reference anywhere on-line to a "Sherline 3" Precision Lathe".

Deko:
Hi John
Try www.lathes.co.uk   They list it as made in USA.

Cheers Dek. :old:

IIRC the original Sherlines were in fact made in Australia and then bought out or liscensed to Sherline, Inc. here in the states. Suurprising how similar they still look though I also see some resemblances to the Unimat on that lathe, especiallt the motor mount, motor size and shape and the chuck also. Looks like a fine little machine though and congrats on getting it!!

Bill

Dan Rowe:
The early history of the Sherline lathe can be found here.
http://www.sherline.com/sherhist.htm

I have an early US model with a brass bed but the cross table is ally.
