Can banding material be milled?

Can the banding metal be milled? I have some clips I need to make that will require a small slot.

Do a test... Clamp a piece tightly between two pieces of aluminum (or, gasp, wood) and try to cut a slot.

Personally, I think a Dremel with a grinding/cutoff wheel might be a better choice, depending, of course, on the geometry of the slot.

I made leaf springs for the loco using spring steel that's thicker than banding straps.  Cut slots quite easily with carbide endmill.
