Lone Star Engine Works Announcement:

Some changes have been made to the product line at Lone Star Engine Works.
This fall, We have sold the designs for the Baker Monitor, the Quincy Farm
Engine, and the Aermotor Windmill engine and Water Pump to MiniSteam. Kits
for these products will no longer be sold by Lone Star Engine Works, but
will be available through them.

That is not to say that if someone has bought a kit from me and needs help I won't
be there. I believe there a lot of my kits under the benches of builders, so
if you have one and need a question answered, send me an email.

There are additional changes.
1) The Forest marine engine built from a 1888 Patent by Ferdnand Forest and
George Gallice will soon be available as a kit. This is a 4 cylinder spark
ignition engine with some very unique and interesting features. Keep an eye
on my web site for details. If you can't wait, feel free to send an email.

2) Lone Star Engine Works has purchased three engine designs from Dennis Howe
at Historic Model design and Reproductions. I am happy to announce I will have
the Large Gothic Beam steam engine, the smaller version of the same Gothic beam
Steam engine, and the Joys Valve steam engine. These will be available in the
first half of 2015, I expect to have something available during the Cabin Fever
and NAMES shows. Please contact me if you have questions.

3) At some time in the future there will be a kit for the Gould "Challenge" water
pump to accompany your model of the Pacific gas engine. It actually could be used
with other engines as well. More details later.

Thanks for your support over the years.

Maury,

Good news on the engines from Dennis.  He told me he wanted to see since the castings are too heavy for him to manage easily, so I'm glad they'll still be available.

I hope to get back to the Joy engine after the holidays.

They were NOT sold to Ministeam. They were sold to Minicastings. http://www.minicastings.com

Although we share the same warehouse and the owner of ministeam is my business partner I have absolutely no ownership regarding ministeam. I will be coordinating all the foundry work and assembling the kits under the minicastings brand. Ministeam is simply a re-seller of the kits.

Thank You,
Doug Cvelbar

Doug, thanks for the clarification. When you were here picking up the designs I have to admit I was a bit confused about your business arrangements. Glad to have that clarified, and good luck with the engines.

Kvom, You are doing a splendid job on the Joys Valve, Guess I'll be building one of those soon too.
These engines from Dennis are for the more advanced builder, and I don't expect the sales volumes to be high. I really like to pursue the hobby in the direction of developing new and unusual engines, this move will allow me more time to do development. The engines I picked up from Dennis are unusual, and the Gothic Beam engines have an artistic quality I just couldn't resist. I am honored to be the owner of these new engines, and after looking at the plans, it is obvious no shortcuts were taken while preserving detail.

Doug, I am still confused I admit. So will you also be selling the models as minicastings, or is ministeam the sole reseller? Also how does Executive Model Design fit into the scheme of things?

Moderator: If you feel this does not fit or should not be here feel free to delete

My name is Doug Cvelbar. My business partner is Doug Pusser.

At the start of all this Doug Pusser started "The Great Toy Steam Company" because he liked steam and gas engines and collecting things. "The Great Toy Steam Company" does not work well as a web address so he registered the domain "www.ministeam.com".

A couple years after that he started "Executive Model Design" as a partnership with someone else. A year or so after it was started the other party decided they didn't want to do the business anymore and the partnership was offered to me "Doug Cvelbar". The idea was that "Executive Model Design" would be more focused on producing kits and selling model supplies to home machinists and hobbyists. "Executive Model Design" does not work well for a web address so we registered the domain "www.minicastings.com".

Go a couple more years and we acquired "Liney Machine". The name was recognized so we filed a DBA and kept the web site and domain "www.lineymachine.com".

Go a little further and we acquired the small Olds kit and the Breisch Little Brother.

A little further and we acquired the 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, 1/8 Galloway, Woodpecker, and Little York

Most recently we acquired the Monitor, Aermotor, and Quincy from Maury and we also acquired the "Little Demon" from Steve.

Doug Pusser and I (Doug Cvelbar) share the same warehouse and he is more of a salesman and collector. I am a model machinist and techy. My degree is BSEET (Bachelor Science Electrical Engineering Technology) and my day job is Senior Software Dev. I am also a auto mechanic on occasion as well as welder (TIG, MIG, Oxy/Acet).

You can buy from either and they will be packed and shipped from the same place by the same person. I prefer you purchase through "Executive Model Design" - www.minicastings.com.

I think that about covers it! Hope that helps.

That does help Doug, though I had no idea you now owned the Liney Machine line. Thanks for the clarification :)
