Many thanks for all of the positive comments. Makes it all worthwhile.
I'm taking it (and others) to the M/E show at the American Precision Museum in Vermont at the end of the month for its maiden showing. Then Cabin Fever and NAMES in April. I've got the base under way (pix when that's done)
Best,
Stan

Stan, that's a really nice looking motor.  I hope you don't take offence, but did I spot some Philips head screws in the water pump?

If you mean the affixing screws for the engraved side plates, yes. 0-80 Phillips head screws.
I've actually been waiting for MicroFastners to deliver the 0-80 brass hex bolts.
Good eye.
Not that this engine is 100% historically accurate in any case.
I saw an original 10" at a museum. The primary differences are:
The castings look as if they were bolted together right out of the sand.
Original black paint (brush strokes still visible)
No brass other than pump parts.
We do take liberties with our engines to make them look (in many cases) prettier than their original, working counterparts.
It would be interesting if someone made this casting set as the original, warts and all.
That would have saved hours of fettling.
