Title: "Fanstock Clip-rivit" what is it?
Post by: Jasonb on June 25, 2015, 07:27:32 PM
I have just got another set of castings (VJ Monitor) and on one of the parts it says to use a "Fanstock clip-rivit" which I have never heard of and it seems neither has Google, does anyone know what they are ?

The part it refers to is the thin brass bit of the rear of the rivit mid way along this spring steel strip on the full size engine

Thanks in advance, J

Sorted thanks to several members over on ME Forum, its a Fahnestock clip (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahnestock_clip)

It looks to me like a simple clip for the ignition wire. Press it down, push the wire through the loop and release.

Hi Jason

The Fanstock clip is shown in the second photo it is used to hold the wire; they were widely used on old engines in this country mostly on ignitors to attach the primary wire. I think what it should say is to rivet the Fanstock clip. Usually they just have a hole in the end where you can screw them down or place them over a stud.
