Very nice. Thanks for posting the videos.
Wish I could be there.

How elegant - absolute poetry in motion.
Is that the museum in Kensington? I don't remember seeing that engine but, then, that place is complete intellectual overload.

A very nice engine, looks to be a tandem. There's an awful lot of paint on that engine.
Hugh.

Not a tandem, its a cross compound with corliss valve gear, thats an air or vacuum pump behind the larger of the two cylinders.

Yep it's the museum in South Kensington - as an exhibit you can't miss it as it's one of the biggest and pretty much the first thing you see as you walk in. Indeed it was beautiful to watch but also to listen to - a very soothing rhythmic click / clack - obviously it wasn't running under any load.
Not captured on the video, some of the escaping steam was getting entrained in the boundary layer of the flywheel and so was getting whirled round with it. Some of the mechanical details were interesting too - lots of tapered wedges used to lock components together - presumably easy to disassemble and compensate for wear - even the flywheel was located by wedges - you can just see them in the last video.

Marv, I can't remember seeing that either - but it was a long time ago!

Iitis always nice to see the full size engines so beautifully maintained and restored and working under steam!! Thanks for sharing the videos.
