Title: Cleaned the shop... a little.
Post by: 10KPete on February 19, 2018, 01:48:23 AM
Finished making some v-belt pulleys which left a huge pile of aluminum curlies so this was the time to giver 'er a proper clean out and take a pic.

I like that vintage wood bench with the drawers.

So, shop is cleaned and ready to go. What's the plan for the next project?

Looks like you found that lost oiler for the oilers :-)

Very neat, should make working a lot smoother not having to hunt for tools etc.

Pete,
Your shop looks good. I like the rack for the lathe tool holders. I hate to ask but did you try to hide the cookies from the shop gnomes in that one drawer? :lolb:

Thanks for looking in, fellows! That bench has a story. My Dad acquired the top for it when I was about 1 year old and built the bench. Every mark in it means something to me and my brothers. The top is laminated vertical grain fir and on the back edge is painted a name. It is a diving board!! Genuine! But I don't have a pic.  :'(

The vise is a Morgan, Chicago, early thirties.

Now the drawer.....

The drawers are caned fruit boxes from the late forties-early fifties. Dad nailed runner strips on the boxes for rails in the bench.
The drawer with the hole... it's a knot hole. And one of us kids did knock it out way back! My brother used to shove tools in through the hole instead of opening the drawer...memories...

Nice shop. Too bad it's missing some swarf.  ;D

I like your lathe cutting tool holders. I need to change mine. I don't have near as many but it's still difficult to see/find what I have.

Yep, the next project....

Which requires a project to make it possible to do a thing which then makes somethin' else possible...  :insane:

Just finished putting the RT on the mill. First time with this mill. No problems! Now to dial it in.

I'm doing this little job this way 'cause I just must use the RT. 4 ea. 1/4-28 holes in the hub for the pulleys I made. And those are used in the speed reduction scheme for the mill... then I can turn some cutters big enough to be effective. There's lots of power available.

THEN the real project. Finishing scraping in the mill   :whoohoo:

But first I have to finish the last licks on the master straight edge then I can use it for the mill.

There are a plethora of sequences around here and to try and short cut them really makes the elves mad. All sorts of things disappear. :headscratch:

After the mill I can do a hit and miss I designed (with the assistance of everyone here, thank you) to be fabricated. No foundry.

And other things.... :mischief:

Cheers,
Pete

Those racks are the result of having tried a few. I made 'em from hardware store aluminum angle and flat bar, held together with POP rivets. Would you want more pics?

Pete,
Yeah more pics would be great, although I'd have to figure out where there is room in my shop.
