Title: A new bit to help me see the light
Post by: Bogstandard on March 09, 2013, 09:22:21 AM
This little item found it's way onto my desk the other day, the watch is just to give you some sort of scale.

It comes as two pieces, a flexi stand with a powerful magnet on the end and what I consider a very well made LED torch.

This is the torch bit, and as I said, a very heavyweight aluminium turning exercise, with a screwed on battery cover that has an O-ring seal, so I suspect it is splashproof as well.

A rubber membrane on the end covers the on/off switch.

And it is very bright on the other end.

The main advantage of this light is that it can be used as a normal torch, and when used in conjunction with the magnetic stand, can be used for lighting up spot points on what you are working on, and can be moved about anywhere in the shop, not being confined to one specific place.

All in all, a very nice extra bit of kit for my shop that will get lots of use.

They can be obtained from here if the needs arise.

BTW, I will just say that I have no affiliation to ARC Euro, only one who has had very good support from them, and I am always willing to promote anything different (and Arc are about the only ones who are designing and making anything new) that will help us in our quests.

By the time it got out to the far reaches of the former empire the battery would be flat.

Got one here in NZ, cost me $NZ4.50, it has 6 LEDs instead of 9 in the one Bogs has, It came with the batteries, and will cost more than its origional price for new batteries.  No stand, but that would be no trouble.
Since the start of the earthquakes here in Canterbury, every one has torches, they are a major sales item.      Ian S C

Ian,

Its 14 LEDs not 9. Main cost is not in the torch. It is in the rest of the assembly, magnet, and associated cost of carriage. The packed weight is just under 1/2kg.

My Chinese led cheapo machine lights with 21 leds now only have about 17 lamps working after 6 months. I am prepared to toss them when more of the rest burn out. For the price, it's OK. That seems to be the status of these things. Annoying.

I got one as well.
What i like about it is the portability, put it where it's needed and no wires, wall warts etc to worry about.
Move from machine to machine at will.
