Title: A newby from deepest Suffolk
Post by: Del_61 on July 03, 2019, 02:06:23 PM
Hi, I have just joined MEM finally as I have "lurked" on here for a while.

My interests are making tools, sometimes to make tools to make tools! I have not built an IC engine yet but on the cards is the Atom Minor. I have built lots of stuff designed by George Thomas, Tubal Cain (TD Walshaw). I have a Lady Stephanie beam engine to start when I retire...

Current projects is a Quorn and other associated tooling. I have an elderly Myford S7 (imperial) and an Emco FB2 (metric) which makes life interesting! I also dabble with clock repairing.

I did a marine engineering apprenticeship in the mid 70's and that is when my life long interest in model engineering started. Currently still working in engineering but in a very different role.

I like following build logs and looking at how others have solved problems.

During my apprenticeship we were often tested about our knowledge. One apprentice (not me!) was asked ""how many "thous" are there in an inch?""....his reply?....   ......... "**** there must be millions of the little b*****s"

Anyway that is quite enough about me!

Regards to all

Del

Hello Del, look forward to hearing more about your activities, particularly the Quorn, as I am presently working on components for my own Quorn, and also interested in the Geo H Thomas tools you have made:   be pleased to see any photos of course.   Dave

Hi everyone!

Thanks for making me so welcome  :)

I will try and get some photos of some stuff I have made and post it up here.

To my shame I have never visited Forncett St Mary museum, so I will make the shortish journey there this year.

Thanks again, and good machining!!

Regards

Derek
