With 2019 fast approaching I just wondered what others hope to achieve next year ?
For me it will be restoring a couple of boilers I have and hopefully having a go at building the RLE from the Alyn Foundry casting kit.
I do also have a set of castings for the 3" Southworth pump so that will get started once I've bought some imperial drills :)

I plan hold my first model engine running day.
As to models to build :thinking: It all depends, following negotiation, on what castings I am allowed out of the collection. I hope to finish drawing up the Tulip engine in time for the Midlands show ::)

#1 Purchased all of dale detrich's spark plugs and parts stock. Plan to get focused on that part of model engineering. Have made some #8-40 spark plugs that are nice.
#2 Make a run of 10-40 spark plugs. Hope to have 50 in stock at the end of january.
#3 Design champion 3X and COM6 spark plugs in 1/3 scale (1/4 too small) and look perfect.
#4 Finish Blown Demon V8
#5 Finish 1/3rd mini bike.
Order could change at any time.

Get the IF Allman complete and running if I don't manage it this month.
Project "F" is underway so that will need completing
Next casting kit is probably going to be the RMC type A, flame ignition version
It's about time I did a more detailed steam engine than the last few 24mm bore ones, I have something in mind for that.
Well that should last me until the end of January, after that who knows :LittleDevil:

It's funny, but just today in the late afternoon I was thinking about this what to do next.
Since five or more years there is a single cylinder IC engine casting set under my bench, but this is not what I really want to do. It has to wait some more years.
The decision is clear now, I will start this project , the Bruce Mcbeth Engine.

Or better I will start making swarf for this engine, the project itself has already started last year in summer when I have made the CAD model.Just ordered the small Proxxon band saw MBS240/E, so I will be better equiped to prepare the brass plates.

Get the Marion build done. If any of the year left after that, I want to start a large scale version of the Stanley steam car engine that I have plans for, also want to shoe-horn in building the model makers vise that I got the Morisson and Marvin casting set for last year.

Finish Muncaster Grasshopper including governor hopefully. If the Green Cutoff castings become available I'll probably by a set and start on a long build. Otherwise it might depend on inspiration gathered at CF next month.

Lots of interesting projects Y'all.
I have a full agenda:
1) get the Dickson engine running by NAMES, I want to go this year again.
2) Make progress on the Mogul tank cooled.
3) Finish my Holt75 and get it running.
4) The Quincy is finished except for the ignition, get it running

Hope to finish up my version of the hoglet and wind some coils on the coil winder then after that hope to start on a radial engine have decided which yet. Plus sneak in maybe a steam engine or 2 now that I'm officially retired hope to get lots of shop time.

I plan to make significant progress on my A3 tender. Doubt I'll be able to say "finish" as such, but the trucks, frame and maybe even the water tank enclosure. Big plans, I know! ;D

to finish with all these engines, I'm on the way, but how come progress are so slow ?

I'm going to try and finish building the IC motor I started a couple of years ago, it only requires the ignition sorted, and the fan fixed in place. The fan still has it's motor in place, and it will be run as a generator (ignition maybe).

I want to finish my Burrell-Boydell traction engine model and make a start on a 1 1/2 inch scale version of the Fowell-Box engine that I made a 3" inch version of a few years ago.

I would like to see the climaxes running on air, but that would be without the drive shafts. The chances are I will make a little progress on everything and achieve nothing. :facepalm:

I am currently teaching myself Fusion 360 by modelling from the plans all the components of the Alyn Foundry Sphinx, in anticipation of getting the castings from Graham early in the New Year. It's been a pretty steep learning curve so far, but at least there are lots of useful Fusion 360 videos showing you how to do most things.

It sounds like you are in a similar situation to me, I want to try and build a workshop style horizontal steam engine and trying to teach myself Fusion 360 in order to create so working drawings.
I kinda have an idea what I want to make, have most of the materials, and have tools that I think will cope so I'm confident I can build one but need to have a proper plan to work to before I start making swarf.

It sounds like you are in a similar situation to me, I want to try and build a workshop style horizontal steam engine and trying to teach myself Fusion 360 in order to create so working drawings.
I kinda have an idea what I want to make, have most of the materials, and have tools that I think will cope so I'm confident I can build one but need to have a proper plan to work to before I start making swarf.
I looked at Fusion 360 about six months ago, embarrassed to say gave up after about an hour. The trouble is I have CNC at work and program manually if I want anything and I am happy to sit at a drawing board. Personally I feel more at one drawing by hand rather than clicking an icon or shape.

#1 fit cross-slide DRO upgrade to Myford S7
#2 get suds pump fitted to it
#3 finish bracket for tool post grinder
#4 finish G Thomas Universal Pillar Toll (after13 odd years)
#5 maybe retire from on-site work in Aug.
#6 try and make some bits for the Anzani
#7 various other workshop machine fixes.
#8 hopefully build Prusa3D printer over Xmas

Chronometric tachometer ( at design stage atm) - a nice clicky clunky design that hopefully anyone can build .
3d indicator revisited - I have acunning plan (but it probably won't work)
Better valving and tolerances for the Tower Spherical 3d printed engine.
New workshop roof and heating (do I make space for a cnc lathe of not?)

Ok I might as well throw my two bits worth in. I have had an ongoing project of building a surround for the bench on my Tormach. In hopes of confining the flying bits. My dad left behind 8 or so 4x8 sheets of plexiglass. You could call it shop improvement.
Last winter I started a project which was good to work on when the snow was flying and it was not practical to do anything outside. In restarting this CAD project this winter I've come to the realization that despite having a lot of the large parts in CAD I am missing almost half. That would be Ron Collona's 270 Offy. I must admit that talking with people at NAMES and Zanesville who have built one leaves me considering a remodel, or at the least a revision. Making chips this year would be great.

Need to get back on the Corliss of course but there's a new diesel in the air too ;) along with finishing the JLE engine. Of course that doesn't take account of the garden and a gradually 'creeping into the conversation' of that dreaded unmentionable word - decorating :o

Get and fit DRO for SX3 mill.
Buy/make required tooling for above mill.
Make a start on my first I.C. engine, after trawling through the forum I have bought the Little Demon V8 drawings.
