Title: Simple Traction Engine
Post by: galland on May 10, 2015, 01:16:24 PM
Years back I decided to build a simple little traction engine. I got on the Mamod site out of the U K and looked at the pictures and did this little one with a couple little changes of my own. For anyone not familiar with the Mamod tractor, the first picture is from their website.      Gary

That's a very nice looking little tractor.

It's nice. Good lines. I could see that in a high-end gift shop. It'd be taken quick.

That's a great looking model Gary. what does it run on? I also like that you geared it rather than using the spring belt

The black plug at the rear is covering the nipple for an air line Bill. I o-ringed the various parts up to the engine and it is sitting on two pedestals so the wheels are off the board for running.

Thanks for the comments guys.  I guess maybe I should have said its about 5 inches long with 1 3/4 diameter drive wheels. I keep saying I am going to go back and put a steering system on it but then I say a lot of things.

Well Gary, given the way you are displaying it (very clever btw), steering really isn't necessary other than for aesthetic reasons. Now that you have mastered posting pictures, any chance of posting a short video of it under power?  If you can upload it to youtube, posting from there isn't difficult :)
